January Report
In January the young men focused on the Nuclear Science Merit Badge, taught by Brother Doug Lowry. This merit badge involves requirements pertaining to understanding nuclear science technology focused on nuclear energy use. Parents please check with your youth regarding their efforts to help them fulfill the necessary requirements. The youth hosted a campout in January to Huntington Beach, South Carolina, and had an enjoyable time there, some even got in the water. Our youth enjoy campouts, and the young men’s leadership requests that parents make the necessary efforts to allow young men to attend these valuable activities, regardless of the young man’s interest in obtaining scout achievements.

Nuclear Science

The first week of January, Brother Lowry taught us all about nuclear science. He had a detailed power-point that will help everyone fulfill the requirements for the merit badge. I uploaded the power point to google docs, but have published it here for you to use:

Some of the information does not display, so what I would recommend doing is clicking on the little box next to the number of slides (i.e. where it says (1/19). That takes you to the full size power point. I would highly advise getting that done before next week (Feb 4th), when he'll come back to finish up the requirements with us.

Calendar for February:
4 Feb: Brother Lowry will finish N.S.
11 Feb: Joint Activtiy, Deacons are in charge
18 Feb: Duty to God night
25 Feb: Boards of Review, Brother Stewart will be with us to finish up requirements for Citizenship in the world.

Breakfast

Last weekend we had an excellent campout at Hunting Island. We arrived around 8:30, set up camp, had dinner, and then played a little steal the flag. In the morning we got up, some of the boys went swimming, and then we fished off the pier on the Fripp inlet.
So now that we've started telling parents that this blog is going to be a resource, we better make it a resource. Just saying that we're back in the blog business.
