JULY

July has been a busy month for the young men, and many have been out of town on vacations throughout the month. We began the month with another activity for the Golf Merit Badge. We went to Wedges and Woods where we were given a substantial discount and practiced golf shots on the driving range and putting green. The youth experienced an exercise in obedience at the Stake Youth Conference. All youth were asked to come dressed appropriately for a service project, an activity about which many were initially discouraged. Upon arrival, the youth found out the service project was actually a laser tag event, and all had an enjoyable time. The young men have also been working on the Space Exploration Merit Badge. There will be a Court of Honor in August, and we hope to have as many as possible qualify for these two merit badges.

ANNOUNCEMENT

This Saturday morning at 8:00 am will be the Pioneer Day breakfast. We have been asked to give a flag ceremony for the start of the breakfast. We'll need everyone there in their brown shirts/green pants, and hopefully someone can find the bugler so that he can participate. Extra spam to everyone who shows up!

Space Exploration, etc.

Last night the troop met to assemble their rockets (which will be launched at a to-be-determined date). Everything went well, as long as you stayed away from the burning glue, a super-glue that gave off heat energy as it solidified.

After the rockets were partly assembled, we had some great games of dodge-ball. Swamp-donkey showed us all how to play.

A.T. Favorite Pics.

Hey everyone! Chafe here, and I've got a couple of Raw and Uncut Pics from our hike. The first one I like to call 'Chief Thinker'. Then we have 'Hotspot?' where we've got Indiana Jones checkin his feet for hotspots. Then we've got 'Owned' with Uno and Swampy paying the price for sleeping on the job. Fourth, we've got 'Corbo in space' with Corbo in deep thought at a troop break. And finally, 'The Gangs All Here' which was taken on top of our hardest climb on the second day.

Hiking the Appalachians

Here are a few pictures from our recent Appalachian 50-miler. More to come.

Eagle Court of Honor

Congratulations to C-Fow for receiving his Eagle on 29 June, 2008!

The Tetons

This is where the scoutmaster gets his name. The big one on the left is the Grand Teton, the one in the middle is the Middle Teton. I've climbed that one.

Saturday, July 19, 2008

Hello all. We're going to try something new out to keep our troop informed of activities, and hopefully provide links to information that will help all the young men progress to Eagle. Chase Fowers has been asked to take responsibility for the blog, and will hopefully be updating it weekly. If you have any suggestions, you can email me, or leave a comment here. Thanks for all you do,

SM
